Sujay has been fascinated by the natural world for as long as he can remember. His art reflects both his convictions and his uncertainties about humanity’s role on the planet. Deeply inspired by evolutionary biology and natural history, he draws as much from science as from fellow artists. His work also carries echoes of centuries-old traditions — from the intricate precision of Indian miniature paintings and the meditative detail of Buddhist Thangka art to the accuracy of botanical illustrations once used for scientific study.
Through this unique blend of influences, Sujay creates pieces that are both contemplative and meticulous, urging viewers to slow down and pay attention to the fragile details of life we so often overlook.

Over the past decade, Sujay has exhibited widely, with five solo exhibitions and numerous group shows. He has collaborated with organisations such as WWF and Wavescape, raising awareness and funds for conservation through his art. In 2023, his drawing of a Southern Right whale and her calf was even selected for South Africa’s 5 Rand coin, placing his work in the hands of millions.
With over 150 original artworks sold, his pieces now form part of collections in 11 countries, including Austria, Germany, India, the United States, and South Africa. Each new body of work is developed with a deliberate study of medium and narrative, often unfolding over the course of an entire year.
